How to Create Groups?

The Groups extension lets you create groups on your UsersWP-powered website, similar to the way you'd create groups on Facebook or other social networks. 

To create a group, the extension provides a separate Create Group page template. 

Creating Groups

First, you need to specify the Name and Description for your group. You should also Add Members when creating a group, though you can always invite new members later. To do so, simply input comma-separated email addresses of your members.

The next step is to choose the Privacy Settings for your group. You have three options -- Public, Private and Hidden.

Lastly, you can choose whether to auto-approve posts or moderate them first in the Post Moderation field. You can also select whether group members can invite users to the group, or only moderators and admins can do so. 

Privacy Settings

Groups extension provides three Privacy Settings for your groups: 

Public

  • Any site member can join this group.
  • This group will be listed in the groups directory and in search results.
  • Group content and activity will be visible to any site member.

Private

  • Only users who request membership and are accepted can join the group.
  • This group will be listed in the groups directory and in search results.
  • Group content and activity will only be visible to members of the group.

Hidden

  • Only users who are invited can join the group.
  • This group will not be listed in the groups directory or search results.
  • Group content and activity will only be visible to members of the group.
